(M-Zone) 1

Back Square area of Shan Hai Temple, Chai Shan Da Road, Kaoshioung

Tao Yuan neighbourhood is located on the west side of the Mount Chai, facing Taiwan Gulf.
During the military occupation, Mount Chai was an important camouflage base, implanted to ensure the protection of Kaoshioung harbour. Weapons and other military equipments had to be kept out of sight. This largely influenced the local people lifestyle: they developed their own camouflage way of living and kept close relationships.
The car park, which is situated right behind and uphill from the Shan Hai temple, would be dug underground to provide a hidden public plaza for local people use. The entrance of the latter would be connected to the actual neighbourhood administration office, so that it would be out of sight , in keeping with the specific camouflage lifestyle of the inhabitants of Tao Yuan neighbourhood.
